Using up scraps….

Beautiful scraps of “Grunge” left over from two Elizabeth Hartman whale quilts and a very large Mid Century Modern quilt.  Who wouldn’t want to use them for another quilt?

Then came the request …….. a new baby quilt in a modern style.  As usual, no pattern was given, just a picture.  Was the picture of a baby quilt or of a bed size quilt.  There were no reference points.  It makes a difference when you’re trying to determine the triangle sizes.

After hastily sketching out a pattern and cutting the fabrics,  I’m ready to sew.  It’s the perfect project for the all day retreat coming up next weekend.   Hope it’s what was visualized.  You know, everyone’s sees something different in a picture.

P.S.  After consultation with my daughter, her vision was slightly different than mine so,  we have decided that the triangles need to be smaller.  No great problem….

  1. Awwww, I’m glad to hear it’s not too much of a problem Mom, to make the triangles smaller! I really like the effect of the small triangles lined up, looking like miniature bunting flags/garland blowing in the breeze :o) Can’t wait to see it, and thanks for being flexible. Your talent for turning a photo into a pattern is awesome!

  2. It’s hard to put into fabric someone else’s vision! We had to do that this summer with our niece’s vision, but in the end it turned out great. I can’t wait to see where all these fun fabrics end up! ~smile~ Roseanne
