I’m always looking for ways to use up scraps. These goodies are left over from one of the quilts I made for my grand daughter when she was born.
Somehow I’ve been roped into being the Project of the Month person for our small quilt guild. Our guild does it differently….because members who sew very accurate seams are frustrated by the members who aren’t so fussy, we don’t draw for the blocks. Everyone makes a block for themselves using the colours and fabrics of their choice. They can either save the monthly blocks to make a sampler for the year, or they can continue making a particular block into a full size quilt.
So, in the spirit of looking for an appropriate POMs to use, I came across a series by Kitchen Table Quilting. The Giant Block Series, please check them out. Blocks are either 24″ or 36″. Love this idea. There is lots of room for individual interpretation and that is something I know our members like.
Hopefully the scraps above will appear in my project of the month sample using the March big block. Of course, I will be tweaking the pattern to accommodate the various scraps sizes.. Another sample quilt will be made….check back in a couple of months and see my results.
