Why hand made quilts cost so much

I found this little goodie on facebook……

This explains very accurately the quilting process and places a very low dollar value on each of the techniques….to update costs to 2018  prices, consider the following……..minimum wage in Ontario is now $14 per hour, fabric now cost approx. $16 per yard , sending it out to a longarm quilter costs $0.025 per si minimum (for a basic edge to edge design). Custom quilting starts at approx $.05 per si.

I still LOVE making quilts.  I LOVE all aspects of the process.  I LOVE seeing my gift quilts appreciated.  I find it very soothing to my soul.  For me, that`s what quilting is all about, not the money (although that`s appreciated to fund my habit for fabric).
